Our Coastal Bunk Room

Our Coastal Bunk Room | Simple, Calm, and Ready for Guests

Designing a space that feels both functional and beautiful is always the goal—but when it comes to a bunk room, the stakes are a little higher. It needs to be cozy enough for guests, playful enough for kids, and calm enough to feel like a retreat. I'm so excited to share how I brought this vision to life in our coastal bunk room—a space that blends natural tones, soft textures, and just the right amount of coastal charm.

Simple, Calm, and Organized

The first thing I wanted this room to feel like was a breath of fresh, salty air. I kept the palette light and natural—think warm whites, textured rattans, and soft blues that echo the sky and sea. Everything is designed to feel simple and uncluttered, with plenty of hidden storage to keep toys, games, and extra linens tucked away and out of sight.

Natural Textures + Coastal Elements

Some of our favorite details are the Serena and Lily hanging chair.

Bunk Beds for Fun (and Rest)

These bunk beds were a great find and great price. We wanted them to feel playful but also roomy enough for adults to sleep comfortably, making this the perfect dual-purpose room for both little ones but also work well when my grown kids come home or visiting guests.

Pro tip: we added baskets underneath the bottom bunks for even more storage. Game-changer!

Space to Play, Room to Rest

One of the best things about this room is how versatile it is. There's a cozy corner with floor cushions, so the kids have a spot to hang. We put a tv tucked away in the closet with video games. But it can just as easily transition into a serene guest room for friends or family.

The balance of function and calm was really important to us. We didn’t want it to feel overly themed or too “kid-only”—instead, it’s a room that grows with our family and welcomes others with open arms.

In the end, this room feels like a quiet little beach cottage getaway—right inside our home. Whether it’s a weekend sleepover, summer guests, or a rainy-day hideout, the coastal bunk room has quickly become one of the most loved spaces in our house.

If you're dreaming of your own bunk room or looking to bring a little coastal calm into your home, I hope this gives you some inspiration!
